Mechanism Of Action

The exact mechanism of action of alprazolam is unknown. Benzodiazepines bind to gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors in the brain and enhance GABA-mediated synaptic inhibition. 

Dosage

0.005 - 0.02 mg/kg/dose TDS If Needed 

Max - 3.5mg/day or 24 hourly 

Used As - treat anxiety and panic disorders and inducing Sleep. 

Contraindicated - Not safe in Pregnancy
