Levocetirizine is an antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms such as watery eyes, runny nose, itching eyes/nose, and sneezing.

Composition 

Syrup - 5mg/5ml

Tab - 5mg, 10mg

Class - Anti histamine

Mechanism Of Action

Levocetirizine is a third generation, non-sedating, selective histamine H1 receptor antagonist, with antihistamine, anti-inflammatory and potential anti-angiogenic activities levocetirizine competes with endogenous histamine for binding at peripheral H1-receptor sites on the effector cell surface.

Dosage

6 - 12 months - 2.5mg OD or 0.125mg/kg/ 24 hourly 

12 - 23 months - Intially - 2.5mg OD  & increased to 2.5mg BD

2 - 5 year - 2.5mg/day  & Max-5mg/day 

Either in single dose of 5mg or divided 2 doses

6 year to Adult - 5 - 10mg/day in single or divided 2 doses. 

 Used As - Cough & Cold, Rhinitis, Sneezing

Causing Sleepiness. 

Contraindicated - Safe in Pregnancy
