Mechanism Of Action
The primary mechanism responsible for its anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and analgesic action is thought to be inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis by inhibition of the transiently expressed prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase-2 (PGES-2) also known as cycloxygenase-2 (COX-2).
Dosage - 0.5mg - 1mg/kg 2 - 3 times a day
Max - 3mg/kg/day (150mg/day)
Used As- Analgesic in gout, rheumatoid arthritis, muscles pain etc
Contraindicated - Not safe in Pregnancy
* Diclofenac has exhibited profound antibacterial effect against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It has also shown synergism with other antibiotics . These studies have suggested diclofenac as a potent non-antibiotic antibacterial agent.
